How to Use A Leave-In Conditioner on Natural Hair
Every coil and curl are different from one person to another and even from one curl to another on the same head! The one thing every coil and curl has in common is the need for moisture and hydration. Sticking to a routine that keeps shampooing to a minimum is a great way to retain moisture but another way to maintain moisture between washes is using a leave-in conditioner or moisturizing styling cream. Moisture is the key to maintaining your natural hair and Challure’s hibiscus petal + chamomile leave-in contains the best natural ingredients for beautiful, healthy hair.
Here are a few tips on how to use our moisturizing leave-in on your natural hair:
- Start with Clean Hair – Before using our leave-in, it’s important that you start with freshly washed hair. Hop in the shower and do your normal cleansing routine making sure to get rid of any dirt or buildup that may be in the hair or on the scalp. Make sure that the shampoo and conditioner you’re using are not damaging to the hair and coordinate well with each other.
- Apply the Hibiscus Petal + Chamomile Leave-In – Make sure to follow the instructions carefully for the best results. Our leave-in works best when applied to damp or towel-dried hair as it allows our product to penetrate the hair shaft. Natural hair can range in texture and thickness, so we recommend being more conservative if you have fine hair and applying more liberally for thick hair. Make sure to focus application on the ends of the hair and work the product up the shaft taking care not to apply too much product to the root. Applying too much product close to the scalp can actually clog the hair follicle and prevent new growth. Saturate the end of the hair in product and use the excess to add moisture to the middle of the strand and the root.
- Detangle the Hair – If you have natural hair, you probably know how difficult and damaging it can be to detangle dry hair. The hibiscus petal + chamomile leave-in provides the perfect amount of slip for easy detangling. Make sure to use a wide tooth comb when detangling to avoid damaging the hair in its fragile state. Gently comb through your hair to remove any knots or tangles.
- Style – Now you’re ready to style. Apply your regular styling products in order to achieve the style you want. Our leave-in works well for wash N go’s because it provides the extra moisture needed to keep the style looking fresh for longer. If you want your wash N go to last even longer try refreshing with a spray bottle of water and our leave-in conditioner for extra hydration and shine. If you’re doing a protective style, a leave-in is necessary for maintaining the health of your hair. Protective styles are worn for longer periods of time, so a lot of moisture is needed to keep your hair strong.
